Apply special effects to digital sound
Pristine Sounds '98 is a 32-bit digital audio editor that lets you add effects to and "clean up" prerecorded music and other sound. It works with audio in the .wav, .au, .snd, .pcm, .raw, .mpg, and .mp2 formats. Special effects include noise removal, several types of reverb and room simulators, compression, graphical equalization, spectral normalization, chorusing, and presence. You'll also find frequency space editing (which lets you edit a sound with pens and brushes in two dimensions), frequency space Undo, (which enables you to undo in two dimensions, and a vinyl restoration tool. Large files shouldn't be a problem because the program works with sound data from the hard drive and doesn't need to load the entire file into RAM. Pristine Sounds' 24-bit plugin architecture lets you directly download the latest effects from the developer's Web page, with the ability to add up to 128 new plugin effects. Direct Show 5.2 ("ActiveMovie 2") audio plugins are supported, too. You can test this evaluation edition (which lets you save files up to 30 seconds in length) for 30 days..
